To all who mourn in Israel, He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. Isaiah 61:3

We Wear History Events in September 2014

These past couple of weekends have been very busy for We Wear History, my costuming group here in town.  On Saturday, September 20th we put on a Through the Ages Fashion
Show for the antique store Something Special.  It was so much fun!  The day was fabulous...not too cold and not too hot!  The owner of the store, Gwen, had been wanting to do a fashion show for a tea party for quite a while and it finally came to be!  We demonstrated 5 different categories...1) underwear 2) 1860s hoops 3) natural form and second bustle 4) 1890s and early Edwardian and 5) Teens era.  Tammy was a wonderful emcee and described our dresses wonderfully!  What I love most about fashion shows is the look on the lady's and gentlemen's faces when they see the dresses and especially what was worn under them!

Here are a few of the pictures that were taken.  For more visit our Facebook page...

This past Saturday, we helped The Bishops' House celebrate thier 125th Birthday!  Aaaaaand since it was a Birthday party, we decided that we should wear tiaras!!  This was a very special event for me because it was the first time my Mother in Law, who does not in Idaho, attended with me!!  She wore my yellow Ruth DeWitt Bukater tea dress and I think she looked fabulous!!

More pictures can be seen here...

It has been a fun past couple of weeks and we have many more events in the planning!  I can't wait!!

Be blessed my friends!

    1. Oh thank you! Since she lives in Illinois, she hasn't started costuming with us, but when she moves here, she more than likely will! She had a great time!

  6. Absolutely beautiful, ladies! Fashion shows are becoming my favorite thing to do and be able to show all our hard work.
Gina, I'd swear it looks like you changed into a least 4 gowns. I have a hard time with just two. :O

    1. Thank you Val!! They are a very fun thing aren't they? Believe it or not, most of us changed 4 times....we had about 15 minutes between eras to change clothes. It was challenging, but we did it! I decided that "Speed Changing Victorian Style" needed to be an Olympic Event!!
      Blessings!
