To all who mourn in Israel, He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. Isaiah 61:3

Costume College: Sunday Breakfast Belles and Beaux and a Royal Ascot Tea...PJs from a Photograph and A Dress From a Museum

Sunday morning at Coco was Breakfast Belles and Beaux.  I had planned to wear my so very comfy and very lovely pistachio green Edwardian Corset with my lace insertion combinations, but when the packet for Coco came out and I read that the theme had changed, I knew what I would wear.  I had purchased a small yardage of gorgeous embroidered silk years ago with the knowledge that I would turn it into a Kimono.  Huzzah!!!  I now had a reason to make it!  Now I had to think up some pajamas.  Enter Pinterest...of course!  I found this fabulous image of a 1920s vixen in some silk PJs!!  Laaaaaaa!!!  I had two golden silk curtain panels that were put to use in the making of the pjs....this was such a comfortable morning!  Yeah for Belles and Beaux!!!

Of course I took a ton of pictures of other ladies and gentlemen in their jammies and you can look at them HERE

I didn't take any pictures of me in my Royal Ascot Tea dress because I had a lot of them taken last month...the post can be found HERE.  Sadly, I didn't get a full length picture of Josie and me....only a selfie...:-(

My Facebook Royal Ascot Tea album can be found HERE.

Georgiana's dress matches my outfit!!  Josie and I felt our husbands should join us for breakfast...via our Royal Family Orders...

Kimono sleeves are so much fun!!  I need to make a full length kimono with the fabulous full length sleeves.

Those 20s ladies struck some really silly/fun poses!

Two ladies in their PJs!!  This was a fun day!

Laaaaa!!!  I think that I will have to make more 1920s silk pajamas.   They are beyond comfortable!

Be blessed my friends!

1920s Pajamas, Kimono Robe and a Boudoir Doll I will call Georgiana

For Costume College, I had planned on wearing my Green Edwardain "S" Bend Corset with my Edwardian Combinations.  But this year for Coco, the theme for Sunday Breakfast is "Breakfast Belles and Beaux"...and the dress code is "Tea gowns, wrappers and kimonos".  Sooooo....I had some thinking I had to do and some research.  I wanted something that would be rather simple to put together...in other words I didn't want to make an elaborate Victorian Era Tea Gown.  One day I wish to make one of those, but I just didn't have time for this year.

Enter the fun pajamas and kimonos of the 1920s.  I have put together a Pinterest board of Pajamas, Robes and Kimonos.  I have wanted to make a 1920s Kimono for quite some time and this was the perfect "excuse" to get one made!  I had all the fabric for this outfit in my stash so extra score!!!

This is the main inspiration for the pajamas part of my outfit.  Source: Anything Goes: Celebrating the 20s
I LOVE this look!  It is so sweet and simple looking, but oh so comfy!!!

I had in my stash some dark gold dupioni silk from two curtain panels that I found several years ago.  The pink is a poly satin.

These are the patterns I used:

I lowered the neck hemline and raised the underarm seam of the bodice part of this 1920s inspired pattern.

View E was used for the pants...instead of putting elastic at the leg hems, I added a cuff.

I modified this wonderful pattern for my Kimono.

Completed 1920s Pajama outfit!  I can't wait to wear it Sunday morning for Belles and Beaux Breakfast!

Close up of the embroidered silk I used.  I have had this in my stash for about 3 years.  I had it in mind for a Kimono when I purchased it and finally have one!

Fun slippers from Victoria's Secret.  Found these at one of my local Antique Stores!

One of my accessories for this outfit is my Boudoir Doll.  I had wanted one for a loooong time as I love dollies and antiques, but never could find one in town.  I really like supporting my antique stores and LOVE it when I can find something like this doll in town.  So when I saw her at Antique World Mall, I knew she would be coming to my house to live.  I have decided to name her Georgiana!

Here is a wonderful article about Boudoir Dolls: Boudoir Dolls: Messengers from the Past
And nooooo...I am not a naughty girl.   Just so we are clear on that point!

I think she compliments my PJs and Kimono quite nicely!

She has what appears to be real human hair made up in finger waves.  Sadly the back of her head is bald.  I will attempt to make her a hat before Coco....

Her face is very lovely and sweet.  She sports a Victorian looking dress in silk with lovely lace and flower trim.

The shoes crack me up!  They are painted gold, one being darker than the other!

Well, I am one more outfit ready for Costume College!  I can't wait to be out of a corset for breakfast Sunday morning!  Georgiana and I will see you there!!

Blessings!
