To all who mourn in Israel, He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. Isaiah 61:3

My Very Own Teck Crescent Tiara!!!

As any of you who have been reading my blog for any length of time know...I LOVE LOVE LOVE tiaras!!!  They make me so happy!!  They are glittery, shiny, girly, flowery, wheat-y, star-y, wonderfully awesome!

I have three favorite tiaras.  If there ever is a Zombie apocalypse and 99% of the world's population was gone and I was one of only a handful left, I would have to make my way to Europe to make sure these three tiaras were protected.  That's how much I LOVE these tiaras!!! (Yes I know that most people would be thinking of food, water and shelter, but you know, these tiaras need to be safe with me!)  These three are:

and

I don't know what it is about the Teck Crescent Tiara.  I remember first seeing it when I first starting really researching the Royal Family online about 11 years ago.  I was checking out Queen Alexandra and her daughter-in-law Princess May.  That led me to see images of Princess May's mother Princess Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck.  The very first image I saw of her was of her wearing one of the most spectacular tiaras I had ever seen!  I instantly fell in LOVE!!  Not sure what it is about it, but it just makes this girl's magpie heart do flip flops!

I was perusing Ali Express one evening right before my birthday last month when my eyes saw what I was hoping they were seeing!!  The Teck Tiara!!!!  Ohmyholygoodhonks!!  I couldn't believe it!!  It wasn't an exact replica, having emerald colored stones and being cast in a coppery/antique gold finish, but I sooooo did not even care.  There was a copy of my beloved Teck Crescent Tiara!  I knew I would be getting some money from various people for my birthday and so decided that this tiara would be what that money would be going to!!  Huzzah!!!

I can most certainly tell you that I am very happy with this tiara.  I did just today pop out the emerald colored stones and replaced them with clear stones and I am even more thrilled with how it looks!!!

Stone swap out completed!!

Not that the emerald colored stones weren't pretty, I just prefer the clear ones!

It actually isn't bad having it the copper/antique gold metal!

I cannot say enough good things about Alice's Adventures in Wonderland store.  Mom ordered a tiara and I ordered another one and they stuck a smaller tiara, two jeweled hair pins and replacement stones in the box!!  How cool is that!?

Oh, and here is a Pinterest board on Tiaras: Real Ones and Their Reproductions!!  You can find some pretty fabulous repros from eBay and Ali Express!  What fun!

I hope you have all had a most wonderful Sunday!!

Be Blessed!!

  2. Wow, that's a impressive replica. I definitely prefer it with the clear stones.

And when may we expect the new dress to go with it?! :-)

    1. It really is BT. The designers did a wonderful job. It will be a while before a dress is made to go with it. I don't have enough fabric for a ball gown yet! But the dreaming can start!

  3. Tiara are so awesome, but this replica is extra awesome. Congratulations on finding this one, Gina. :)
My dream replica to find would be Désirée Clary's wreath tiara, still worn by the Danish royal family. ;)
    Love, Nessa

    2. Ohh, Gina, that is exciting. :D Here is a historical blog post on it by the way: http://www.thecourtjeweller.com/2015/01/tiara-timeline-danish-rubies.html
I think I liked it better in its original wreath shape, before they refurbished it. :)

  4. My own search for a Teck Crescent tiara finally lead me here.

THANK YOU FOR FINDING THIS OMG SQUEE

    Ahem.

Question regarding jewel replacement: I too want to swap out the emerald stones to make it look as it was designed to look. How did you do that? I'm an old hand at gluing stones back in (thank you, Dazzle-Tac), but not sure how to pop stones out without wrecking the frame or damaging other stones.

Would you be willing to post a tutorial?

    Many thanks,

    Your sister in tiara worship

    1. Ha!! I felt the exact same way when I saw this on the Ali express site!! For the popping out of the small jewels, I use a very sturdy seam ripper that I have had since the 1980s. I place the point right at the place where the stones and metal meet, not straight up and down but at a more diagonal angle Using firm pressure I just press until the stone pops out. For this tiara, a lot of the stones I was able to remove with my finger nail or thumb nail. After all the stones were removed I super glued the clear stones in!! Ta daaaa!!!! For the larger stones I had to use needle nosed pliers. I just closed the pliers around the part that stuck out over the metal, then if I needed to finished with the seam ripper. I would suggest wearing some sort of eye protection as the stones are made of glass and some of my crystals kept breaking until they decided to come out.

I totally wouldn't mind doing a tutorial, but at present I have not a thing that needs stones replaced! In the future if I come up against this again, I will film it!
      Blessings!

    2. I actually owe you a double debt of gratitude, Lady Gina! My other "bucket list tiara", a copy of the Strathmore Rose tiara, I also found on the Ali express website, thanks to you!

That one had large, gaudy, cherry-coloured stones at the center of each rose, (seriously, who does that), so I will have to replace those as well, but yay! Strathmore! Woo! LOL

I found a tutorial on eHow about the rhinestones - sharing it in the hopes it helps others cut the shatter damage down to a minimum!

They recommend nail polish remover on a Q-tip to help loosen jewels that have been glued in, and pliers & tweezers for prong settings.

Thanks you to, Lady Gina, my 2016 is off to a fantastic start. :) Thank you!

    3. Oh how wonderful! Now I need to see the one that you found that resembles the Strathmore Rose tiara! How exciting! I had considered using nail polish to remove the jewels, but wasn't sure if it would harm the metal finish, so it's good to know that it won't!
I am going to share with you my Pinterest board that compares the reproduction tiaras with the real ones!!
