To all who mourn in Israel, He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. Isaiah 61:3

Spelling Bee Complete!!

Huzzah!!  She's done!  My sweet little Masquerade Bee!  Tomorrow is the day that I get to step into the shoes of the Spelling Bee at the boys' school...I don't mind saying that I am seriously nervous!  I have been in many Victorian fashion shows, Victorian underwear shows, have been interviewed for TV...but these things did not strike fear in my heart like the thought of walking into a room full of grade schoolers with my bee costume on and talking to them about the school fund raiser!  Gah!!!  Well, at any rate, it will be over before lunch!!

This has got to be the funnest costume I have ever made!

The black and yellow just makes me smile!!

The wings are made of silk covered cardstock.

Oooo...bad picture of the bustling...it was a bit scrunched up.

Pollen pom poms on my black velvet shoes!!  Fun!!!

I actually took step by step pictures of the making of my wings and the making of these pom poms...so later this week I will be posting tutorial for both of them!

Be blessed my friends!

  5. I've seen this in the old book of costumes, and let me say, you have done a beautiful job! So much more interesting than a person stuck in a funny bee suit. I see a future for you as the Spelling Bee Lady!

    1. Oh thank you so much Aubry! The wings were what made the outfit "pop"...when I was doing the final fitting before the wings, I was sort of disappointed with the way it looked, then I put the wings on and WOW!!! They were totally what the outfit needed!
