So far so good as of late! No grumbling whilst tearing out stitches! Huzzah!!! Just a lot of hand stitching down of squiggles! That I can totally handle! The going is slow, but I am really liking the end result!
What it looks like before I stitch all the soutache down...a HUGE green wool pin cushion! My husband thinks I'm crazy! |
The center front is complete! Huzzah!!! |
The side panel is pinned on. Praying that my friend Tracy can locate more soutache like this so I can complete the coat with like soutache...I ran out! waaaaahahahahahahaha!!!! |
Really happy with the back. Playing around with the velvet covered buttons...I think I will move them on the final step. |
Now I'm just waiting to hear if the same soutache has been re-ordered from the place where Tracy found the first stuff. If not, I have a very close color that I can use...Here's hoping!!
Be Blessed my friends!

WOW!!! It's looking stunning! I'm VERY impressed with how even your squiggles are. Are you pulling one of the inner soutache threads as you go to make it lie flat like that or is it just magical soutache that lies flat on it's own?

Quinn
Thank you so much Quinn! The squiggle placement was an easy thing to do, it was the making sure they stayed in the right place when I sewed the down that was the challenge...I don't pull the inner thread as I go. I tried that with one of the sleeves and it took up too much soutache. What I do is just bend, curve, smooth and tweek the soutache at the point that it needs curved, and the inner threads move with out having to be pulled...then on the opposite curve, there is extra outer soutache that is "extra" that I can now make the opposite curve out of! I hope that made sense....

Waah, haven't been here for a while! Your suit is getting crazy, haha! But my head hurts when I start wondering how much work and effort does it cost you. I would have given up long ago!
ReplyDeleteHi Eleonora! Well, you can thank my OCD for the fact that I haven't given up on the coat yet...I simply cannot stop working on it!! hahahahaha!!! All I can say is that it better look good when I'm done with it!! ;-)

I can't wait to see the finished suite. I'm sooo impressed by all the effort you put into this garment. And from the way it already looks, I'm pretty sure the finished boarding suite will look stunning.
ReplyDeleteThank you again! I can't wait until it's finished too! This has been an exercise in patience! I just last week received more of the soutache that I need to finish the coat and yesterday got some pheasant feathers from my brother in law!! Now to finish other projects so I can finish this one!!
