Well, yet again, my perfectly laid plans have taken a left at Albequerque! And that's just ok. I have put away my Ruth DeWitt Bukater boarding suit as I discovered the other day that I only have 3 months before Costume College. That's not 3 months of straight sewing time...oh no. Two months of summer falls in between now and the first weekend of August. So, after a moment, couple of hours of sheer panic, I called my friend Josie and she talked me off the ledge of costume craze. Thank you my friend! We now have our Coco wardrobe decided upon and I am feeling very happy.
Enter my first outfit to work on. Lizzy's wedding dress. From every image I have seen of this outfit it looks as though it is a one piece outfit, but I plan on making mine two pieces. A dress and a pelisse.
I'm using the faux drop front view from La Mode Bagatelle pattern. The original image looked as though it had pleats on the front panel so I did that with mine! |
I had some issues with the back/side seam as my body shape isn't conducive to this style I guess, so I did bone it so it layed flat. |
I am hoping tomorrow to insert the sleeves and start on the skirt section!!
Yeah for Regency and Elizabeth Bennet!!!
Blessings my friends!

I'll have you know that I just spent the better half of a work day going back to the beginning of your blog and reading your posts. It is totally your fault if I get fired, because you are just too talented.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha!!! Best compliment on my blog EVER!!! Thank you so much Tracey! I do hope you don't get fired though! ;-) Thank you again!

I think it will work better as a dress with a pelisse. Good Idea.
ReplyDeleteThank you Thalia! I do hope it turns out well!

I'm going to love reading about this as you make it, and then get to see the finished gown at CoCo. Love the fabric you choose. And I never noticed the pleated front part until you pointed it out.

Hello Val!
DeleteYeah for Coco! I can't wait to see you there! The fabric is so very soft! I love the fell of it. My pleats are a bit more uniform than the original, but I contribute that to my OCCD!! hahahahaha!!
Blessings!
