To all who mourn in Israel, He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. Isaiah 61:3

1863 Damask Rose Semi Sheer Gown

Yesterday I got to wear my 1863 Damask Rose dress to The Museum Comes To Life and I LOVED how it turned out!!  That is the reason for soooooo many pictures in this post!!  The whole outfit made me exceedingly happy and giddy and pretty!!  Can't wait for another event to wear it to!

My sweet Mama and I with President Lincoln.  I LOVE love love how her dress turned out!  We had fun in our sheer dresses!

I would love to have this painted...it reminds me so much of Tissot's paintings of ladies in their dresses!!

We Wear History  attends The Museum Comes To Life!

All in all, I was super pleased with this outfit!  I felt like a princess!

Blessings!

  2. Gina, this is just too lovely! It's wonderful how you managed to keep your outfit sweet and romantic without having the "Bo Peep from Toy Story" effect ;) I always have this problem wearing pink dresses with a bonnet. I must also say the colour matches your hair perfectly!

    1. Hello Eleonora!!

Thank you so much for your lovely compliments! Your comment about Bo Peep made me laugh as there were several people at the event who asked where my staff was! hahahahaha!!! I had not thought about it until they had asked...But thankfully, as you said, it did manage to steer clear from the Bo Peep look!! And I struggled with the color as growing up I was always told that red heads can't wear pink...well, my hair has changed color and gotten darker so Yeah!! I can wear this shade now!!

      Be blessed!!

    2. Well, it's actually Bo Peep that's copying the 1860's look rather than 1860's women copying Bo Peep... So I guess there's nothing to worry about :) And I think that this particular shade of pink is alright for all kinds of red hair ;) I would say it's rather orange that redheads should be aware of, but to be frank I've got no idea, cause I'm not a redhead myself :P

  5. Absolutely lovely! You look so crisp and happy. The colors suit you very well, as does the style. And you have some really fantastic photos (what a lovely background for pictures!) as well! It's such a treasure to look back on these sorts of events.

  6. Dear Gina,
Wow! I am speechless. Your outfit is simply splendid! So romantic and delicate, especially the close up of you and the rose. If only one day I could create dresses half as pretty as yours!

  9. I have to say I'm really enjoying your blog and looking at all your lovely pictures! I don't have much opportunity to wear my 1860s gowns any more but really wish I did. Granted I did wear one for Halloween this year as part of my Carole Burnett "Curtain Dress".
